All day I’ve been thinking about what I learned from reading George Fox’s sermon. Truthfully, it was Jesus opening to me what Fox and two editors put forth. The Kingdom is preached; the gospel is preached. In a moment I was reading Matthew 4:17, “From that time on Jesus began to preach and to say, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ ” Suddenly I knew that that kingdom was Jesus and that that hand was his and that it is he that is near.
Jesus is with us and over us when we belong to him. He is the mountain of the LORD who teaches us the things of God, Is 2:3. There is no end to what his teachings give to those who follow him. Don’t seek the truth from me; find it for yourself, for the LORD God is near you always.
